Target Rebuild

• Two sets of actuator coils failed in the off-line
  demonstrator target during February
• Permission being sought for limited run of
  on-line target during imminent machine physics
  period other than that we are effectively
  stopped
• We need to
• Understand problems with coils
• Re-manufacture and test
• Re-make affected mechanical parts (flanges, tubes
  and shafts)
• Re-assemble targets 1 2
• Carry out pre-test run
• Re-install in ISIS and R78 respectively

  (electrical) will oversee technical management
• Talk to Deritend about coil re-design 7thMarch
• Ditto Tesla Engineering, or similar - mid March
• Get help from Steve Griffiths at DL done
• Coil re-design and test programme defined end
  March?
• Delivery of new permanent magnets Mid April?
• Delivery of new coils Mid April
• Delivery of new flanges and tubes 6th April
• Delivery of new shafts 1st April?
• DLC coating of shafts bearings 5th April?
• Re-assembly of both targets complete 10th May?
• Pre-testing at Sheffield or R78 10th-15th May?
• Install Target 1 in ISIS 15th May?
• Dates in Blue are real
• So, target not operational until end of Summer
  shutdown
