Watch Your Step

• 1. What
• A large number of recently reported incidents
  have involved people walking up or down stairs.
• Many of these have lead to leg injuries serious
  bruising -and time off work.
• Slip or trip injuries cost UK plc over
  500million each year.

• 3. Learning
• Try to avoid situations where you need to use
  both hands to carry something whilst going up or
  down stairs.
• Make sure you are wearing the right footwear for
  the task.
• Use the handrails provided and please dont run
  up and down stairs.

• 2. Why
• Such injuries commonly occur when people are
  rushing, or carrying things on stairs.
• STFC Estates groups take great care to ensure
  that all sets of stairs are as safe as possible.
• However, some external stairs will become
  temporarily slippery in the wet.
• Please report any stair issues to your local
  Estates group.
