Title: Lesson 60 Geometric Solids

1
Lesson 60 Geometric Solids
  • A geometric solid is a geometric figure that has
    three dimensions.
  • A prism is a geometric solid where two faces
(called bases) are identical and parallel and
where the other faces are parallelograms (called
    lateral faces).
  • A cylinder is like a prism except that its bases
are closed curves instead of polygons. The curved
surface between the bases is called the lateral
    surface.

  • Ex. 60.1 The area of the base of a right
pentagonal prism is 28 cm squared and the length
of the lateral edge is 10cm. Find the volume.
  • EX. 60. 2 find the lateral surface area of a
right pentagonal prism. The length of a lateral
edge is 15m and a side of the pentagon is 5m.
