- C-FOAM is pleased to present a panel discussion
among aquaculture leaders in Canada focusing on
success and sustainability in salmon cage
aquaculture. The 4 panelists from industry, the
ENGO community, aquaculture science, and the
regulatory agency (DFO) will discuss information
for the interested public in Ottawa and
contribute to debate on the sustainability of
aquaculture practice. Questions to the panelists
include - What are the benefits of salmon aquaculture to
Canada to the countrys economy, to coastal
communities, to consumers? - What is known about the impacts on coastal
ecosystems and on wild salmon populations? - What are the main uncertainties reimpacts, and
what is being done to resolve these? - How does the regulatory regime work to ensure
sustainability?
