- One of the older neighborhoods in Portland, that
was first platted in 1889. - Named after a novel title by Sir Walter Scott,
1826. - First occupants were Clinton Kelly family
4Early Transportation
- The Woodstock trolley line was finished in May
1987. - Pictures can be found at the Oregon Historical
society of the trolley.
5Housing History
- The northern portion of the neighborhood contains
the older homes that were built as early as the
1880s. - After World War II housing construction was only
focused on the southern and northeast portion of
Woodstock. - The current housing development is scattered
though out the town.
6Woodstock Now
- Small locally owned Businesses
- Family oriented
- Chinese Immersion program led to steady increase
in the Asian population - But still Predominately Caucasian.
