    eye 'iyshown 'ayin (????? ???) referring to the
    small image of a persons reflection seen in the
    pupil (Deut. 3210 Prov. 72)
  • The Hebrew phrase in Psalm 178 and Lam. 218 is
    the daughter of the eye (Heb. bath) in
    Zechariah 28 it is the gate of the eye (Heb.
    babah)
  • The Latin word pupil refers to a small child
    again referring to the small image in the pupil

    3210 Psa. 178 Zech. 28 (Gr. koreen, a little
    girl) the pupils of thine eyes in Prov. 72
    (Gr. koras, young girl) the apple of thine
    eyes (Gr. thugater, daughter)
  • The English phrase apple of the eye refers to
    the pupil of the eye because an apple is small
    and round like the pupil (see NASV)
    figuratively, it means cherished precious
    carefully protected
