Title: Following Christ part 2
1Following Christ part 2
2Peters Greatest Risk and yours.
- Peter answered him, "We have left everything to
follow you! What then will there be for us?"
28Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at
the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man
sits on his glorious throne, you who have
followed me will also sit on twelve thrones,
judging the twelve tribes of Israel
3Peters Greatest Risk and yours.
- 29And everyone who has left houses or brothers or
sisters or father or mother or children or fields
for my sake will receive a hundred times as much
and will inherit eternal life. 30But many who are
first will be last, and many who are last will be
first. - (Matthew 1927-30)
4With Great RiskComes Great Reward
5What Kind of Reward Are You Looking For?
- I work Hard to provide for my family
- Shouldnt we have the Best?
- Money
- Big House
- Cars
- Expensive Clothes
- Toys, Toys, Toys
6But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who
gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so
confirms his covenant, which he swore to your
forefathers, as it is today.(Deuteronomy
818)
7Dr. Warren Wiersbe
- It is good to have the things that money can
buy, provided we do not lose the things that
money cannot buy.
8So What Great Reward Do We Seek?
- 15"If you love me, you will obey what I command.
16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you
another Counselor to be with you forever 17the
Spirit of truth 25"All this I have spoken while
still with you. 26But the Counselor, the Holy
Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you all things and will remind you of
everything I have said to you. 27Peace I leave
with you my peace I give you. I do not give to
you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be
troubled and do not be afraid. - (John 1415-17, 25-27)
97Do not be deceived God cannot be mocked. A man
reaps what he sows. 8The one who sows to please
his sinful nature, from that nature will reap
destruction the one who sows to please the
Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal
life.(Gal 67, 8)
10Life By the Spirit
- 16So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not
gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17For
the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the
Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the
sinful nature. They are in conflict with each
other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But
if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under
law.
11Life By the Spirit
- 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control.
Against such things there is no law. - Gal 516-18, 22, 23)
12Life by the Spiritis the only kind of life
worth living.
I came that they may have life, and have it
abundantly. Jesus (John 1010)
