Key Messages from Employers
  • Every sector of industry is experiencing skills
    shortages
  • Shortages are across the full spectrum of job
    roles i.e. riggers, scaffolders, technicians,
    geologists, subsurfacereservoir engineers
    subsea engineers
  • Recruitment drives are not delivering as expected
  • Real demand from other UK projects and industries
  • Experienced labour pool shrinking but the
    industrys behaviour is not.

Project Scope and Timeframe
  • Project 7.
  • To investigate the consistent and repeated
    reporting of shortages in qualified
    geoscientists, subsea and surface engineers as
    this is an area that cannot be tackled in the
    same way as a the other projects which
    potentially have short term solutions.

  • Gain a better understanding of reported
    shortages.
