2Painting has been a part of recorded the human
experience for thousands of years.
People painted to communicate ideas before they
had an official language to express themselves.
3When we are children we draw to express ourselves
before we can speak or read.
4Some believe that visual language is our first
language.
5But we dont all see the world in the same way.
6A painting is a creative visual description of a
person, place or idea.
7Our painting project topic will be Canadian
Painting
and the way it is a creative visual description
of this place we call Canada.
8Early Canadian Art explored the new frontier
and documented the way of life.

9The Group of Seven were a collective of Canadian
artists who were convinced that a nation could
only be a true nation when it had its own strong
style of art. The Canadian landscape was unique
and these artists chose that as their subject
matter.
