  • 11th year teaching, 9th in CVUSD
  • Lives with husband, 2 dogs, and almost 5 month
    old son
  • On campus Thursdays and Fridays

  • 5th year teaching 1st year at Canyon
  • Previously teaching 6th grade English/History in
    San Rafael
  • From Union City, and just moved to Fremont from
    San Francisco with husband, 2 year old daughter
    Audrey, and 7 month old son Jack
  • On campus Mondays-Wednesdays

Language Arts Curriculum
  • The Language Arts curriculum is composed of four
    parts
  • Spelling/Vocabulary
  • Grammar
  • Literature
  • Writing

Spelling/Vocabulary
  • 20 words a week given out each Monday in class
  • Students received a workbook on Sept. 5th to use
    for the year
  • Quiz - every Friday
  • Weekly words are posted on Teacherweb

  • Parts of Speech
  • Capitalization/Punctuation
  • Sentence Structure/Combining
  • Drills and worksheets are used to teach these
    concepts
  • Students will keep all returned grammar
    assignments in their binders and take notes in
    their English notebooks

  • Cooperative learning is an essential part of this
    classroom
  • Group selection
  • Time in groups
  • Cooperative learning lessons and projects
  • Group points, class points, etc.

QUEST/Exploratory
  • Quest will last through September 19th
  • Introduction to Canyon, other students, study
    skills, a safe environment
  • Then students will rotate between nutrition, ASES
    (study skills program), and computers

  • Review your childs binder reminder
  • Our website contains information about what is
    happening in class, homework, spelling words,
    outdoor school information, book lists, SOAR
    program, and announcements
