Title: The Paleo Period: The Earliest Known Culture
1The Paleo Period The Earliest Known Culture
2Hello, I am Clovis. I am a Paleo Indian. I am
here to tell you my story. Come with me.
3Over 10,000 years ago, there was an ice age, and
much of the earth was covered in ice.
4The water froze and caused the ocean floors to
become exposed and create land bridges. One of
these land bridges was Beringia, or the Bering
Strait.
5Large animals such as mastodons, mammoths,
caribou, and moose crossed from Asia to North
America by way of the Bering Strait.
6My people followed these animals, and so came
to North America.
7- We never created permanent settlements, we moved
with the animals, to ensure we would always have
food.
8My father was an excellent hunter. He taught me
everything I know.
9We used a weapon called an atlatl to spear our
prey. This weapon allowed us to throw spears with
more power.
10We used stone to make the spear heads.
11Here are some of the spear head points.
12Eventually, my time passed, as did the Paleo
period. And with its passing, began the Archaic
period.
