Lamentations
  • Jeremiah is the author of Lamentations

    morning great is your faithfulness.
  • Lamentations 519-22, You, O LORD, reign
forever your throne endures from generation to
generation. Why do you always forget us? Why do
you forsake us so long? Restore us to yourself, O

old unless you have utterly rejected us and are
    angry with us beyond measure.

you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them,

whether they listen or fail to listen-for they
are a rebellious house-they will know that a

blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save
us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand,
O king. But even if he does not, we want you to
know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or
worship the image of gold you have set up."

What else can we say about the Major Prophets?
  • The New Testament contains the revelation of
events and the coming of the Messiah as
    prophesied by these prophets.
  • They are spoken of by name many times
  • Isaiah is spoken of by name over 20 times in the
New Testament. Usually to fulfill what was said
through the prophet Isaiah (like Matt 33,414)
  • Jeremiah is spoken of 3 times (all in Matt), and
    Daniel once (in Matt).
  • This is in addition to the other quotes that do
not specifically mention their names, but quote
    their prophecy.
