Having (or not) Things
If you took away all the sponsors, all the
photogs (photographers), all the competition
glory, I mean there would still be skateboarding
and surfing. Yeah, it would be just the same to
me. Probably better. -Edward Bleakley
13Growing Up Groms
Growing Up Groms
Helping groms is about self-achievement. The
thing that makes groms important to me is that it
brings this lifestyle from start to finish. -Mr.

23Thanks for watching
24 Whether on water, pavement, or fluffy white
powder, the history of surfing, skateboarding,
and snowboarding is a landscape filled with
rugged personalities, exotic locales, wild
innovation, and most of all the united dream of
becoming one with the oceans, streets, and
mountains. -Jaime Brisick
25The whole reason for me to make films was to be
part of something bigger than me, so people I
loved could watch what I love to do and somehow
feel a part of it.-Cable, 22. snowboarder,
skater, surfer, filmmaker.

27I always loved watching the surf movies, when I
was a kid because it gave me better ideas for
tricks and stuff. I would see something I hadnt
tried before and I could like, do one more trick
or something. I always thought if I busted an
air or something, like do Gerry Lopezs style in
the movies, then I could get all the girls to
like me in the fifth grade. -Rick Davies
(retired. oldest surfer in the lineup, early
Californian surfer/board shaper)
28- Of all the things that I think about skating, the
number one best part is when I forget about what
I was thinking about and the sounds drift away,
and I dont feel any muscles moving, I just feel
like Im floating. - -Dane Richards
29- Success to me in surfing is just pushing your
limits, you know like doing what youre thinking
about. Say youre thinking about doing some
crazy knee grab 360 air, thats like something
that youre going for. Its a progression, you
know youre trying to push the limits of what
youre abilities are. - - Cory Lopez (competition surfer)
30- I dont watch the movies, I just do it.
- -Tallulah
- I think all the magazines are so corporate, and
most of the films too. They all have the same
people in them. I just skate with my friends.
- - Kyle
31- You know, when you are riding your longboard I
bet you just picture waves the whole time thats
what I do. Anyway, youve seen people snowboard
in pictures enough Im sure you could just try it
and figure it out, you know. Its all the same
idea of power and will balanced out, of you and
what youre riding on. - -Tanner Bleakley

the number one best part is when I forget about
what I was thinking about and the sounds drift

- I could probably ride with 75 of my board as
long as it was my favorite board and the waves
were perfect and kept up for a while. Same
reason I could surf by the moon too. Its all
feedback you know, and when you concentrate you
can just feel your way on waves. -AJ Nichols
33 You can recognize a boarder so easy. Its an
instant connection. It truly is something that
connects people everywhere on the most tenuous
little idea that you both ride a little piece of
equipment. Really strange, right? But then
again I can sure talk about it with anyone and
have a good time. -Isaiah Mead
