Our Body Systems!
  • Click on the arrow to learn more!

2
Circulatory System
  • The circulatory system uses your heart and blood
vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to parts of
    your body.

3
The Heart part of the circulatory system!
  • The hearts job is to pump the blood throughout
    the body.
  • It is the strongest muscle in your body.
  • It is about the size of your fist.
  • Your heart pumps all the time and moves your
blood to clean and feed your cells.

Look at this real heart beat!
Listen to this human heart beat by clicking on
the picture!
4
Blood Vessels part of the circulatory system!
  • Blood vessels that carry oxygen away from the
heart to the body cells are called arteries.
    (RED)
  • Blood vessels that carry carbon dioxide in blood
to the heart are called veins. (BLUE)
  • Blood vessels that that let the fresh supplies
leave the blood and enter the body are called
capillaries. They connect the veins and arteries.

5
Quiz Time!
  • What do arteries carry away from the heart?
Select the correct answer to move on to the next
    system!
  • A) carbon dioxide
  • B) calcium
  • C) oxygen

6
Incorrect!
  • The veins carry carbon dioxide to the heart!
Click on the back arrow to try again!
  • TRY AGAIN

7
Incorrect!
  • Calcium is not carried away from the heart
    through the arteries!
  • TRY AGAIN

8
You are correct!
  • The arteries do carry oxygen away from the heart!
Click on the arrow to go to the next body system!

9
Skeletal System
  • A skeleton is the framework for your body and is
    made of hard bones.
  • There are 206 bones in your human body.
  • Bones give your body its shape and protect your
    organs.

Quiz Time!
  • Where are most of your 206 bones located? Click
on the correct answer to move onto the next body
    system!
  • A) in your legs
  • B) in your hands and feet
  • C) in your skull

11
Incorrect!
  • No, the majority of your bones are not in your
legs! Click on the back button to try again!

12
Incorrect!
  • Sorry, the majority of your human bones are not
    located in your skull!
  • TRY AGAIN!

13
You are Correct!
  • Yes! We have many bones in our hands and feet!

14
Muscular System
  • Muscles are made of many stretchy, elastic cells
and fibers that help make your body move.
  • There are more than 600 muscles in your body!
  • Muscles work in pairs. While one muscle is
working the other muscle is relaxing.
  • Muscles help keep your organs in place.

15
Do you think you should work out with weights?
  • Click on what you think you should do.
  • Yes, using heavy weights is healthy for my
    muscles and my body.
  • No, my muscles are not fully developed yet, and I
should wait until I am the right age to use heavy
    weights.

16
Not Exactly
  • As a third grader, you need to be careful to not
lift heavy weights that could be damaging to your
    body.

Nervous System
  • Your brain is the boss of your body! It runs the
show and controls just about everything you do!
  • The brain is most important part of the nervous
system. The parts of the nervous system include
    the cerebrum, cerebellum, brainstem, pituitary
    gland and hypothalamus.
  • Your brain cant do it alone! It needs nerves
and the spinal cord. The spinal cord and nerves
let messages flow back and forth between the
    brain and body.

19
Quiz Time!
  • Why is the nervous system called the nervous
system? Click on the right answer to go to the
    next body system!
  • A) because it is nervous
  • B) because it is shaky like you would be when
    your nervous
  • C) because it involves nerves that are located
    throughout your body.

20
Incorrect!
  • Our nervous system is not considered to be
nervous! Click on the back button and try again!

21
Incorrect!
  • Our nervous system is not considered to be
nervous and shaky like if we were nervous! Click
on the back button and try again!

22
You are Correct!
  • Everything you do depends on your nerves involved
in your nervous system. Your brain sends
messages to your nerves to have you do something.

23
Digestive System
  • Digestion allows your body to get nutrients and
energy in needs from the food you eat.
  • The digestive process begins in your mouth while
food travels through your body. Your tongue plays
a big part in the beginning of the digestive
    process.

diagram!
24
Quiz Time!
  • Where does the digestive system process begin?
Click on the correct answer to go to the next
    body system!
  • A) The mouth
  • B) The stomach
  • C) The diaphragm

25
You are Correct!
  • We begin the digestive process when we put the
food into our mouths! Click on the arrow to go
    to the next body system!

26
Incorrect!
  • The stomach is part of the digestive system, but
it is not where it all begins! Click on the back
    button to try again!

27
Incorrect!
  • The diaphragm is located near the stomach but is
not the first step in the digestive system! Click
on the back arrow to try again!

28
Respiratory System
  • There are two large lungs in your chest. One is
a bit bigger than the other. The extra space
    leaves room for your heart.
  • The diaphragm works with your lungs to allow you
to inhale and exhale. Inhale is to breathe in
and exhale is to breathe out.

hour of exercise

Incorrect!
  • Your lungs do not exhale saliva! Spit may be in
your mouth and may come out, but this is not what
exhaling entails. Click on the back button to
    try again!

32
Yes! You are right!
  • We exhale Carbon Dioxide. Our bodies do not want
carbon dioxide inside of us, so we blow it out!
Congratulations you have finished this program!

    Expert!
