10How?
- co-ordination and integration of Research-Driven
Clusters - Triple Helix III approach
- university,
- industry,
- government,
- a must in order to achieve the growth and
competitiveness opportunities that Advanced
Medical Imaging brings to the European society.
11Aims of AMI-4EUROPE
- to acquire a comprehensive insight into the
design, implementation and impact of existing
Medical Imaging and associated Health-related
Technologies research and innovation support
programs and initiatives in Europe. - to create the Common Co-ordination and Knowledge
Base necessary to enter the identified market
niches - to establish appropriate scientific advice and
sustainable support mechanisms to assist the EC
and national, regional policy makers - to maximize the socio-economic impact in support
of the health-related economy.
12Finances
- The total requested grant is 2.682.504 from a
total budget of 3.225.844
13Impact
- to mobilize European health-related economy
stakeholders - to create an environment in which enterprises can
start, grow and thrive, - support the competitiveness and sustainable
development in the Advanced Medical Imaging
market that Europe requires.

15Why?
- Thanks to the developments in Medical Imaging,
Diagnosis is earlier than ever. - Physicians have more information and insight.
Care is less invasive and less painful for
patients. - Access to tests and treatments is easier as
imaging procedures are available in convenient
settings, such as independent imaging centers. - In addition, patient outcomes from fewer
complications to saved livesare dramatically
improved. - Unfortunately, the healthcare sector is diverse
and as a result, collaboration has been difficult
- The challenge is to build expertise in the
development of integrated systems that address
unmet clinical needs while providing a solid and
consistent network of RD Innovation groups.
