- Richard Arkwright invented the water frame and
added it to the spinning jenny - Edmund Cartwright invented the steam powered
loom for weaving cotton. - Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin.
- James Watt of Scotland improved the design of the
steam engine and made it practical for use - Oliver Evans built the first high-pressure steam
engine for powering machinery. Now factories no
longer need water power.
