Notes Props of Matter
Matter is anything that has mass and takes up
space (has volume) and can exist as a solid,
liquid, gas, or plasma All matter is made up of
atoms. Matter can be identified by physical
properties such as odor, volume, density, color,
malleability, etc Matter can be also be
identified by chemical properties such as ,
reactivity and flammability (See Holt Online
Ch7/Sect 3 VC about Phys. Chem Props)

3SPI 0807.9.8 Physical Chemical Changes
Notes Props of Matter
- Physical Changes changes the appearance of an
object, but does not actually change the
composition of the object - Physical Changes Do Not Form New Substances
- Examples of Physical Changes Two examples are
shown below.

4SPI 0807.9.8 Physical Chemical Changes
Notes Props of Matter
- Chemical Changes occur when a substance, due to
a chemical reaction, is changed into a new
substance. - Indicators of chemical changes include a change
in odor, heat given off, explosions, fizzing,
foaming, and/or sound or light given off - (See Holt Online Ch7/Sect 3 VC about Phys.
