-usually includes completed application form,
cover letter that asks for an interview, and a
resume listing education, experience, interests,
and abilities -the interview makes or breaks
the hiring process -candidates are sometimes
asked back for a 2nd or 3rd interview !
-Review cold-call applications -Ask staff if
they know someone good -Recruit at job fairs
-Headhunting for people (they come to you for
the job) -Advertise in newspapers and online
-Predicting the companys needs ahead of time is
important -Track employee turnover (rate in
which people leave the company voluntarily) -Need
to consider how technology and economic changes
might affect business

to keep employees happy (longer lunches, flex
hours, daycare, gyms) -exit interviews are
conducted when you leave this helps them to
know why you are going
-also called compensation -hourly is common when
you are in the trades or just starting out -most
common is a salary -also commission, incentives,
fee for service, stock options
-orientation is when they show you around the
workplace (meet people and see the layout). Also
explain work hours, benefits, dress code,
etc. -Training is where they show you your
duties and how to perform them. -Ongoing
training is quite normal
