Types of Investigations
  1. Comparative Investigation we COMPARE things we
    observe
  1. Descriptive Investigation we DESCRIBE things we
    observe
  1. Experimental Investigation we TEST things we
    observe

Investigation Scenarios
A
  1. Sally wants to look at two different lady bugs.
She compares their spots and colors and records
her data. What type of investigation is this? How
    do you know?

37
Investigation Scenarios
A
  1. George is concerned about the water height in the
creek in his back yard. He decides to test the
height of the water every day for a month and
records what days it rains. He concludes that
when it rains the water height goes up. What type
of investigation is this? How do you know?

38
Investigation Scenarios
A
  1. Peters science teacher started a garden at the
school. His class goes outside and records
descriptions of all the organisms they can find
in the garden. What type of investigation is
    this? How do you know?
