• 2.) Reader - Read the poem out loud to the group.
• 3.) Each person will then read it independently.
• 4.) Leader Read each question and guide the
  discussion.
• 5.) Secretary Record your groups answers from
  the analysis sheet.
• 6.) Deliverer Be prepared to deliver your
  analysis to the class.

• Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1947.
• Parents had him institutionalized in a mental
  hospital (3 times) for wanting to pursue his
  dream of becoming a writer

• Became rebellious and got involved in the hippie
  movement in the 1960s.
• Wrote popular Brazilian rock songs.
• He was imprisoned and beaten by a military
  dictatorship.

• He then decided to tame his radical behavior.
• He had a spiritual awakening in Spain and wrote
  about it in his first book The Pilgrimmage(1987).
• He was 38 when he published his first book.
