    Justice in Nottingham where the children took
    part in a Mock World War Two trial and tour of
    the old prison.
  • Next week, we are visited by the Well meet
    again World War Two museum.

Maths Methods
  • Fractions
  • simplifying by dividing the numerator and
    denominator by the same number.
  • Simplify 4/12. Divide both by 4 1/3
  • Ordering fractions from smallest to largest by
    changing to a common denominator.
  • Order 3/10 ¼ 4/5
  • Make them all twentieths
  • multiply 3/10 by 2 6/20
  • multiply ¼ by 5 5/20
  • multiply 4/5 by 4 16/20
  • Now order them 5/20 6/20
    16/20
  • Change back to original ¼ 3/10
    4/5

Fractions to Decimals
  • 3/10 changes to 0.3 (or 0.30)
  • 27/100 changes to 0.27
  • 4/100 changes to 0.04
  • 2/5 changes to 4/10 then to 0.4 (or 0.40)
  • 0.7 changes to 7/10
  • 0.65 changes to 65/100
  • 0.75 changes to 75/100 then to 3/4

Direct and Indirect Speech
  • Direct Speech / Direct Quotes
  • Uses inverted commas and reports what someone
    actually says.
  • It is in the present tense and First person
  • e.g This will be a great term for Year 6,
    said Mr Crick.
  • Indirect / Reported speech or quotes
  • The reader is told what someone else said.
  • It does not use inverted commas.
  • It is usually converted into the past tense and
    the third person.
  • e.g Mr Crick told us that this would be a great
    term for Year 6.
  • I am really looking forward to making Shelters,
    said Bill
  • What would this be if we converted it to
    Indirect speech?
  • Mr Crick told us that Liverpool were the best
    football team.
  • What would this be if we converted it to
    direct speech?
