Nouns
  • Nouns are words that name a person, place, thing
    or idea.

Singular Nouns
  • Singular nouns are nouns that name one person,
    place, thing or idea.

Plural Nouns
  • Plural nouns name more than one person, place,
    thing or idea.

Plural Noun Endings
  • Many plural nouns end in s.
  • girls, boys, homes, clouds
  • Plural nouns that end in ch, sh, x, s or ss,
    must have an es added to make it plural.
  • matches, glasses, taxes, circuses
  • Some singular nouns end in a consonant and y. To
    form these plural nouns, change the y to i and
    add es.
  • ladies, hobbies, parties, copies

  • On a piece of paper write the plurals of each of
    these words. Remember, plurals can be formed by
    adding s, es, changing the y to i and adding es
    or the plural can be irregular.
