Conversion of Percents, Decimals, and Fractions
  • FUN! FUN! FUN!

2
Decimals to Percents
  • Move the decimal point 2 places to the right
  • Example
  • 0.63 63.
  • 1.23 123.
  • 0.02 2.
  • 0.456 45.6

3
Percents to Decimals
  • Move the decimal point 2 places to the left
  • Example
  • 64. 0.64
  • 123. 1.23
  • 1.5 0.015
  • 45 0.45

4
Decimals to Fractions
  • Read the decimal
  • The number is the numerator
  • The place value is the denominator
  • Example
  • 0.64 64/100
  • 1.23 1 23/100
  • 0.036 36/1,000
  • 0.0006 6/10,000

5
Fractions to Decimals
  • If the denominator is 10, 100, 1,000, 10,000 or
any other multiple of ten. . .
  • The numerator is the number
  • The denominator is the place value position where
    you put the number
  • If you can change the denominator to a multiple
of ten, make the equivalent fraction with the
    denominator a multiple of ten.
  • Do the same steps as above

6
Fractions to Decimals
  • If the denominator is not a multiple of ten or
you cannot change it easily . .
  • FOOTBALL PILE UP!
  • Numerator goes in the house and the denominator
    is outside the house

7
Fractions to Percents
  • Change the fraction to a decimal
  • Move the decimal point 2 places to the right

8
Percents to Fractions
  • Write the percent as the numerator
  • Do this only if the percent is under 99
  • If the percent is over 99, the hundreds place is
the whole number of the fraction
  • Write 100 as the denominator
  • Reduce/Simplify

  • 99 99/100
  • 41 41/100
