The Special Verb Be does not show action. It
tells what someone or something is or is like.

Use am or was with the subject I.

• I was the best player last year.
• I am 10 yrs. Old.
• He was at the movie theaters.
• I was at the mall yesterday.
• I am going to Itzels awesome party.
• I am the teacher.

Use is or was with singular nouns and he, she, or
it.

• My best story is about when I was a baby.
• He was at school yesterday.
• Itzel is the best out of everyone.
• She is only 5 months old.
• I was angry at her.
• I was here yesterday.

Use are or were with plural nouns and we, you, or
they.

• Youre my best friend.
• We are at the party.
• We were going to the dance.
• They were always right.
• We are going to Disneyland.
• You are sweet.
• They were kind to me.
