1S137 Biology
Hint for high school parents if you can, buy
extra school supplies in September. That way,
they are always on hand and you wont pay full
price when you need to replace them.

3What can I do to make my child successful?
- Make sure they have the proper materials
- Check their study guides and calendars
- Check the website for what were doing (including
homework)
Allow your student some supervised failures.
It gives them a chance to grow and you a chance
to guide.
4When will they be tested on this?
- Students have a quiz every Friday over the study
guide to review what we did that week. - Students will have a test at midterm and at the
end of the quarter as a culmination of all the
previous information. Since Science is
cumulative, students are expected to remember
things previously taught in class.
5Grades
Theres nothing wrong with showing your student
how to calculate their GPA. Then let them see how
their GPA measures up to their proposed college
or career.
- This class runs on a 5-point (A-F) scale based on
how many points your student earns out of the
total points available in the class. You can
always check your students grade on the Infinite
Campus portal as well as email me with questions.

8If Your Student Is Absent
- Your student is responsible for making up lost
work - Please have your student see me when they
return so that I can explain the material and get
them any work that they missed. In most cases, I
can email them missing notes to help them catch
up faster.
9Questions?
- If you would like to schedule an individual
conference, please call me at 847-755-3816 or
email me at vbass_at_d211.org.
10Class Materials
- Students will need a writing utensil and a place
to put their notes either a notebook or folder
or their iPad - Students will also need a folder or binder to
keep graded quizzes and tests here in class - Students can leave their book at home for
homework purposes. All of the students have
access to their book online on their iPad and we
will use this more than the hard copy.
11Study Guides
- Study guides are given out every week and should
be completed by Friday for a stamp. These are
designed to help students review the weeks
material and prepare for the quiz on Friday.
12Class Website

where we are and check your students homework. - To do this go to Infinite Campus and click on the
website address. You will end up on the calendar
page.

are some handy study tips on there and hold their
