Vocabulary
  • Choose 4-5 words from your book that seemed a bit
    tricky. Write the word, the sentence from the
    book with the word, and what the word means

Main Idea
  • Write 2-3 complete, detailed sentences that tell
    the main idea of your book.

Story Elements
  • Tell the genre of your book. Tell the plot,
    setting, and characters of your book. Remember
    to include the problem and solution when
    discussing the plot.

Cause and Effect
  • Tell of an event that happened and why it
    happened. Basically, list a cause and effect
    from the book. Do this twice. You will have two
    causes and two effects. Try to make them deeper
    rather than something completely obvious.

Summary
  • Write a paragraph that summarizes your book. The
    paragraph should contain at least five sentences.
    These should be in sequential order.

Shallow Question
  • Create a shallow question about your book. List
    multiple choice answers for it. Put the answer on
    a new slide after this one.

  • Create a deep question about the book. Why do
    you have this question? Why were you wondering
    this? Put the answer on a new slide after this
    one.

  • Describe a time when you had to make an inference
    while reading your book. What happened, what did
    you infer, and what information did you use to
    make this inference?

  • Make three connections with your book. They can
    be text to text, text to self or text to world
    connections. Tell which type of connection you
    are making, and remember to tell what happened in
    the book.

  • Label and list one fact and one opinion about
    your book.

  • Make an organizer with words that describe the
    main character of the book. Include physical
    characteristics as well as personality traits.

  • Write a 3-5 sentence review of your book. Give
    your opinion of the book and explain why you feel
    this way.
