Title: The Everlasting Book
1The Everlasting Book
- The grass withereth, the flower fadeth but the
word of our God shall stand for ever. - Isaiah 408
2 The Facts, Please!
- The majority of the Bible was written on
scrolls. These were first made from animal
skins, and later from papyrus. It was material
made from the papyrus reed-a plant grown in
Egypt. When the original scrolls began to wear
out, men called scribes very carefully copied the
words onto new scrolls. - About three hundred years after Christ, books
replaced scrolls but they were still
handwritten. In A.D. 1450, when the printing
press was invented, the Bible began to be printed
much faster.
- The Bible is the most important book ever
written. Why? Because God wrote it. He wrote
the Ten Commandments with his own fingers on two
tablets of stone. The Bible was written over a
period of 1,600 years by about 40 men. God told
them what to write. Men spoke from God as they
were carried along by the Holy Spirits (2 Peter
121).
3 Final Fact, Please!
- Satan has tried hard to get rid of the Bible. In
the past, he has caused wicked men to try to
destroy all copies of it. Many, many Christians
have given their lives to keep it safe. God will
not let his Word be destroyed. Heaven and earth
will pass away, but my words will never pass
away (Matthew 2435).
