- The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure (MOWI),
Trinidad and Tobago, is a large sector Ministry

- Current National Development Plan
- 1984 National Physical Development Plan
- Focused on decentralizing development away
from the capitol of Port of Spain and the
east-west corridor. - Present focus is on the development of Regional
Development Plans for the period 2010 to 2020

- Main focus is to continue road construction and
rehabilitation projects including additional
lanes and shoulders, walkovers, bridges and
landslip repairs. - Preparation is being made for a transition to a
Roads Authority

- In the last fiscal year, October 2010 to
September 2011, 95 of development works funded
through the government of Trinidad and Tobago. - External funding from ANZ Bank, BNP Paribas,
European Union, Inter American Development Bank,
Export/Import Bank of China.
12ROAD POLICY
- In February 2011, US 869 thousand in grant
financing from the Multilateral Investment Fund
of the Inter American Development Bank to support
the application of PPP models for the delivery of
suitable infrastructure projects in Trinidad and
Tobago was signed off by the Minister of Finance. - Two (2) or (3) pilot PPP projects will be
identified.

- Road network of 9,800 kilometers
- Main Roads and Highways account for 2,135
kilometers - Preliminary designs done for four (4) new trunk
roads. - New highway started from San Fernando to Point
Fortin (49.5km) - No toll roads
