Title: Days

1
Days
and
Nights
2
Have you ever heard someone say that the sun
rises or the sun sets?
3
The sun really doesnt rise or set.
The Earth spins on an imaginary line called an
axis.
4
The Earth spins on its axis from east to west
which causes our days and nights.
It takes 24 hours for the Earth to rotate
once.
5
So, thats why each day is 24 hours long.
A new day starts at midnight.
The first 12 hours from midnight to noon are
called A.M. The second 12 hours from noon to
midnight are called P.M.
6
Unlike being on a rollercoaster, you cannot feel
the Earth moving because it moves at a
constant, steady speed.
7
What do you know about the
sun? Did you know the sun is a star? The sun is
the center of our solar system.
Nine planets orbit around the sun.
8
Sun Facts
  • The sun is made up of hot gases.
  • It is the source of all energy.
  • Although the sun is 93 million miles away from
the Earth, it takes only 8 minutes for sunlight
    to reach the Earth.

9
The sun is one of our
natural resources because it is something we use
from nature.
10
Moon Facts
  • The moon does not give off light.
  • It reflects the suns light.
  • The moon does not change shapes it just looks
    different during its different phases.

11
The moon orbits, or moves around, the
Earth about once a month.
12
I bet you can explain what causes days and nights!
