Verbos car,-gar,-zar

• Verbs that end in car,-gar, -zar will have a
  spelling change in the yo form only!
• Buscar c becomes qu busqué
• Pagar g becomes gu pagué
• Empezar z becomes c empecé
• Cuándo empezaste la tarea?
• Empecé anoche.
• Pagaste la cuenta?
• Sí, la pagué.
• Ya buscaste tu mochila que perdiste?
• No, no la busqué.

Verbos de i a y

• Verbs such as leer and construir change the i to
  y in the él/ella/usted and ellos/ellas/ustedes
  forms of the preterite.
• Leí leímos
• Leíste leísteis
• Leyó leyeron

- Qué libro leyó tu hermano anoche? -Leyó Harry
Potter.

Verbos irregulares en el pretérito venir y querer

• The verbs venir, querer, decir, and traer are
  irregular in the preterite.
• All four verbs have irregular stems.
• Venir and querer take the same preterite endings
  as estar, poder, poner, saber and tener.
• Venir vin
• Querer quis
• A qué hora viniste a clase?
• Vine a las dos y media.

Querer in the preterite means tried. Quisimos ver
las pirámides, pero no pudimos.
Irregular preterite endings -e -imos -iste -isteis
-o -ieron

• The preterite stems of decir and traer end in j.
• Use the same irregular preterite endings, but
  drop the i from the ustedes/ellos/ellas ending.
• Decir dij dijeron (ustedes/ellos/ellas)
• Traer traj trajeron (ustedes/ellos/ellas)
