Language Arts
Reading Grammar (Writing/Spelling/Grammar) no
more weekly Spelling tests
The language arts average is generated using the
following percentages Reading 60 Grammar

  • In addition to their academic instruction,
    students are on a six day rotation schedule for
    45 minutes in the following areas
  • Physical Education (every other day)
  • Please remember to wear tennis shoes?
  • Art
  • Music
  • Media/Computer Lab/Guidance
  • (every 18th day rotating)

Intervention/Extension
  • This is a county wide structured period of the
    day in which children receive additional
    instruction in Reading and Math.
  • Students identified as eligible will go to the
    Horizons class at this time.
  • Students identified as EIP will either be served
    by the EIP teacher or by a designated teacher
    within the grade level in a reduced sized
    classroom.
  • Tiered students identified by the RTI process
    will receive additional structured interventions.
  • All other students will be served through
    flexible groups.

PLANNERS Each student has been provided a
planner. Students will record their
assignments-if there are no assignments that day
in a subject areanone Please check this every
evening.

  • Homework is assessed by the teacher for
    completion each day and is checked by the student
    for accuracy. It is viewed as practice which is
    essential to the students success with content
    material.

Signed Paper Folders
  • Signed Paper Folders will be sent
  • home each Friday.
  • Papers should be reviewed and the
  • communication form should be
  • signed.
  • Signed paper folders AND graded
  • papers should be returned by the
  • following Monday.

Schoolwide Expectations
  • The plan is based on four expectations
  • Be respectful

  • We have a school-wide behavior plan
  • PBIS
  • (Positive Behavior Intervention System)
  • This is a support system that includes proactive
    strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting
    appropriate student behaviors to create a
    positive school environment.

  • The clipboard Documentation of
  • student behavior and homework.
  • GB Bucks Catch em being good!
  • Severe disruptions will be referred to
  • the office immediately.

PAW Parties
  • The last Friday of each month we take time out to
    reward appropriate behavior.
  • Students who have 6 or less days of sign-ins for
    behavior and/or homework may participate in the
    Paw Party.
  • More than 7 days of sign-ins
  • NO Paw Party

Field Trips
  • We will plan field trips as allowed by our
    budget.
  • Permission forms will be sent home as plans
  • are finalized.

If you are planning to serve a chaperone, you
must have viewed the Mandated Report video from
the CCBOE website and printed the certificate to
give your childs teacher.

What is our Newsflash?
  • Each teacher has a webpage.
  • We are able to send last minute messages out to
    your e-mail or as a text to your phone.
  • In order to receive these messages,
  • you must sign up for the Newsflash on each of
    your teachers webpage.
  • It really is simple and beneficial to you!

Things you can do to help us
  • If you drive your child to school, please get
    them here by 830, especially if they are eating
    breakfast.
  • Please do not pick your child up before 340
    unless they have an appointment.
  • Be aware of the dress code.
  • - shorts fingertip length
  • - shirts must cover shoulders
  • - appropriate shoes (no flip-flops)
  • tennis shoes on PE days

  • Preferred contact is e-mail for efficiency.
  • Water bottles snacks
  • Absences
  • Excuses for absences-all tardy, early dismissal
    and absences require a written excuse-after the
    5th parent note, there must be a doctors excuse
  • Tardies
  • Parent must sign child in the office
  • Transportation changes
  • MUST have a note
  • If no note, it must be called in through the
    office before 230-LATE EMAILS MAY NOT BE SEEN
  • Health Plan Please file with nurse for
  • Regular orthodontic visits
  • Any medical treatment on a regular basis
