Over 40 sound systems positioned around the
Carnival area provide the perfect setting for DJs
to show their stuff. From Latin jazz, reggae and
garage to hip hop and drum n bass.

Saturday August 12pm 9pm 30th National
Panorama Championship The Carnival usually starts
on Saturday with the steel band competition. Each
band has between 40 and 75 musicians. They
compete for the National Champions of Steel.
The Championships takes place 4pm-9pm Sunday
August 6am 10am J'ouvert Steelbands
participate in a procession to mark the official
opening of the Notting Hill Carnival. Revellers
daub paint and mud on themselves and that
tradition has now been taken up here. It is seen
as a way of driving away demons. Once washed off
it reflects baptism . Processions start at the
junction of Ladbroke Grove and Kensal Road. 10am

both performers and spectators of young
