THE ITALIAN PARLIAMENT
THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION
Bicameral legislature (composed of two houses
the senate (upper house) and the Chamber of
Deputies (lower house)
Composed of one chamber
Made up of ministers from Member States in
alterning professional capacity. There is one
government minister from each Member State
The Senate is composed of 315 members over 40
years of age. The Chamber of Deputies is
composed of 630 members over 25. They are all
elected by universal suffrage and have a
five-year mandate.
The European Parliament is composed of 732
deputies over the age of 21. They are elected by
universal suffrage by all citizens of the EU and
have a five-year mandate.
Which ministers attend a meeting depends on
which topic is on the agenda. Each Member state
sends its government minister who is most
familiar with the topic at hand. There are nine
different Council "configurations", covering all
the different policy areas.

No one institution can invalidate a
constitutional decision
- Judge on the constitutionality of laws -
Judge on conflicts between State powers
(legislative, administrative, judicial), between
the State and regions or between different

Republic.

The Court can invalidate laws also if theyre
already in use
The Constitutional Court has to respect only the
Italian Constitution
