2What is EarthScope?
- A nationwide program to ..
- Explore the structure and evolution of the North
American continent - Understand processes that cause earthquakes and
volcanic eruptions
3Objective
- Provide a central search and data access
capability for distributed USArray, PBO, and
SAFOD data and data products - Data are distributed at IRIS (USArray), UNAVCO
(PBO), ICDP (SAFOD) - Distributed implementation
- A central Web service invokes Web services at
each location (WSDL/SOAP/XML), which search the
local catalogs - Distributed development
- Software design and development by a distributed
team of developers, at SDSC, UNAVCO, IRIS, and
ICDP - Leverage portal work already done for GEON
- Production portal to be ready by September 2008
4Request Format
- Client can issue requests to
- Get Station information
- Get Data
- Request structure can specify
- TimeRange
- DataClass
- SpatialBounds
- StationIdentifierFilter
- Schema of the EarthScope Data Portal request
available at - http//schemas.earthscope.org/portal/0.4/esdp.wsdl
- Portal will provide ability to add datasets to a
data cart and request download of data
5Architecture
Portal Composite Service
6ES Data Portal-With all stations displayed
7Stations for a specific query
8Sample response to a data discovery query
9Milestones and Next Steps
- Successful milestones
- Setup of portal environment at SDSC
- Design of the API for station request
- Testing of connectivity of the central portal
site to all the component sites (Station query
used as an example) - Implementation of the GUI for station query
- Design of the data discovery query
- Next steps
- Implementation of the data discovery in progress
- UI design and implementation for results of data
discovery in progress - Identify early friendly users In progress!
- Beta release
- Production release in September 2008
