Session 1 Break (15 minutes) Session
2 Each presentation should last 10-15
minutes. At least 3 team members must speak.

Estimate time required by number of
slides. Allow 1 minute/slide, except for title
slide simple images. Speak slowly
clearly. Project your voice so that all can
hear. Practice your talk.

Make slides clear simple. Use a legible font
(gt 32 point). Do not use fancy fonts. Use
images large enough to see. Do NOT use
distracting backgrounds. Background must
contrast with font.

Divide talk into three sections Introduction Res
ults Discussion Each student presents one
section.

Begin with informative title slide. Indicate
environment sampled. Summarize results. Word
concisely. List authors below title.

Introduction What do you know about the
system? Why is the system interesting? What
question did you address?

Results What did you do? What did you
find? Show data required to tell story. Omit
nonessential data. Omit results of failed
procedures.

Discussion What do results mean? Did they
answer the question? What will you do next?

Acknowledgments Most talks acknowledge others
directly involved in work, colleagues who
helped, funding sources. Your talks do not need
acknowledgments.
