Science Earth and Space In this topic, children
will about space. Starting with the Solar System,
they look next at how ideas about space have
changed over time, before finally exploring what
causes night and day on Earth.
PE Games - Basketball We will be working with
our specialist P.E. coach on basketball skills
which will enhance our ability to succeed in and
enjoy game situations.
Numeracy Numerical Skills and the Number System A
sound grasp of key numerical skills is essential
to success in Maths. We will be exploring the
most effective strategies for solving number
problems and identifying ways to extend our
learning by making links with decimal and
negative numbers.
RE Islam We will be deepening our understanding
of different important faiths around the world by
studying Islam. We will focus on the life of
Muhammad and the daily lives of Muslim believers
in this country and abroad.
History Mayan Civilisation We will be looking at
the Mayan Civilisation. Our focus for this topic
will be the impact that the Mayan civilisation
has had on our lives today, as well as looking at
what life as like for both Mayan children and
adults.
Literacy Journey to the River Sea We will be
using this text to cover the writing genres
Recounts Persuasive Writing and Arguments. We
will focus on letter writing and diary writing to
build our understanding of these three writing
genres.
Geography South America We will be studying the
Americas throughout this year and we will be
starting our studies by focusing on the continent
of South America. We will look at the urban and
physical landscape and produce an Explorers
Guide to the region.
Art/DT Geometric Patterns Pattern focus. We will
be studying geometric artwork and its usage in
Islamic artwork. This will link to our R.E. work.
We will use different 2d shapes to create
geometric artwork inspired by classical Islamic
art.
Computing Developing Games The children will be
focusing more on coding in the new computing
curriculum and we will start our learning by
developing interactive games by writing codes
that will build into a simple playable game.
