    economic and social achievements of workers.

    celebrate Labour Day on May 1, and it is
    popularly known as International Workers' Day

Its a celebration of spring, a day for
organized labour, a day for political protests,
it is a neopagan festival, and a saints feast day

For most countries May 1st is also Labour Day,
or International Workers Day (also known just as
May Day), which celebrates the social and
economic achievements of the labour movement and
left-wing movements. It commonly sees organized
street demonstrations and marches by working
people and their labour unions throughout most of
the world.

May Day was designated an international labour
day by the International Socialist Congress of
1899, and it remains the standard Labour Day
worldwide, with a few exceptions, including
Canada and the U.S.A., it was a major holiday in
the Soviet Union and other communist countries,
it was the occasion for important political
demonstrations

May 1st is a national holiday in more than 80
countries (it is also celebrated unofficially in
many other countries), including Albania,
Argentina, Aruba, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium,
Bolivia, Bosnia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon,
Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, China, Croatia,
Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican
Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, France,
Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary,
Iceland, India, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Latvia,
Lithuania, Lebanon, Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta,
Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma),
Nigeria, North Korea, Norway, Pakistan, Paraguay,
Peru, Poland, the Philippines (spelled as Labor
Day), Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation,
Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, South
Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Serbia, Sweden, Syria,
Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay, Venezuela,
Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. In Slovenia,
Serbia and Ukraine, May 2 is also a national
holiday.

In many other countries May 1 is a public
holiday,like in Macedonia.

In Europe, May 1st is also a day for traditional
springtime celebrations. It probably originated
in pre-Christian agricultural rituals.
Celebrations included a May king and queen, a
Maypole, and people carrying trees, green
branches, or garlands.

May Day marks the end of the half of the year in
the Northern hemisphere, and it has traditionally
been an occasion for a variety of popular
celebrations, regardless of the locally prevalent
political or religious establishment.

In Republic of Macedonia, May 1 is an official
public holiday. People celebrate with friends and
family at traditional picnics across the country,
accompanied by the usual outdoor games, various
