Oxfam International (OI) OI is a confederation of
13 organisations working together in more than
100 countries to find lasting solutions to
poverty, suffering and injustice. To achieve the
maximum impact on poverty, Oxfam's link up their
work on development programs, humanitarian
response and lobbying for policy changes at
national and global levels. Oxfam Internationals
Mission Statement OI is an international group
of independent non-governmental organisations
dedicated to fighting poverty and related
injustice around the world. The Oxfams work
together internationally to achieve greater
impact by their collective efforts. The OI
Secretariat is a small team of staff which
co-ordinates communication and co-operation
between 13 members from its base in Oxford,
UK. The Washington Advocacy Office, set up in
1995, lobbies the World Bank, the International
Monetary Fund and the United Nations on issues
agreed by the 13 members. There are also
lobbyists based in Brussels and Geneva. Potential
new members of OI include Oxfam Trust in India,
Portugal and Switzerland.
