2Some Misunderstand the Role of the Old Testament
- Hold some O.T. teachings such as tithing
- Defend instruments of music in worship
- Defend divorce by O.T. teachings
- Teach Sabbath day worship
- Some teach that Saturday is the day of worship
- Others refer to Sunday as the Christian Sabbath
- Both ideas are wrong
3If Any of the O.T. is Binding, All is!
- For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet
offend in one point, he is guilty of all. (James
210) - For whatsoever things were written aforetime were
written for our learning, that we through
patience and comfort of the scriptures might have
hope. (Rom. 154)
4Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Exodus
203)
- But I say, that the things which the Gentiles
sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to
God and I would not that ye should have
fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup
of the Lord, and the cup of devils ye cannot be
partakers of the Lords table, and of the table
of devils. (1 Corinthians 1020-21)
5Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
(Exodus 204)
- Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not
inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived
neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor
adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of
themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor
covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor
extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
(1 Cor. 69, 10)
6Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God
in vain. (Exodus 207)

- Sabbath worship is not found in the N.T.
- Let no man judge you concerning Sabbath daysthey
are a shadow of things to come. (Col. 216, 17)
- Early Christians worshipped on the first day of
the week. Acts 207 - This is the Lords day (Rev. 110)
- This commandment is NOT for Christians!
8Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days
may be long... (Exodus 2012)
- Honour thy father and mother (which is the first
commandment with promise) That it may be well
with thee, and thou mayest live long on the
earth. (Ephesians 62, 3)
9The following commandments
- Thou shalt not kill (Ex. 2013)
- Thou shalt not commit adultery (Ex. 2014)
- Thou shalt not steal. (Ex. 2015)
- Thou shalt not bear false witness (Ex. 2016)
- Thou shalt not covet (Ex. 2017)
10Are all repeated in Romans 139
- For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou
shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt
not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet and
if there be any other commandment, it is briefly
comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt
love thy neighbour as thyself.
11Are Christians today under the Ten Commandments?
- No!We have a better covenant with God!
- Hebrews 86-10
12Are Christians today under the Ten Commandments?
- Nine of the Ten Commandments are given again in
the New Testament. - The exception The Sabbath Day was given to a
particular people for a limited time in the Old
Covenant.
