Summary
  • The book the American Revolution talks about
    the American Revolution. It took place within the
    years of 1775-1787. The Revolution lasted for
    about 10 years. The book was about all the events
    that happened during the American Revolution.
    Most of the events are about freedom and money.

1st Interesting Fact
  • On page 27 it talks about on the night of March
    5,1775 a young man went way to far by insulting a
    officer. Over a year and a half people would come
    out of places drunk and noisy. After that men and
    boys started to throw snowballs and chunks of
    ice. After a church bell sounded many more men
    and boys came out into the. Some with buckets
    full of water and some with muskets.

  • On page 33 it talks about on t he night of
    December 16,1775. A lot of colonists disguised
    their self as Indians and threw 342 chests of tea
    overboard into the Boston Harbor. To protect
    against British in port duties.

  • On page 34 it talks about that one law closed the
    port of Boston to all trade. New laws went into
    effect on June 1,1774. Boston observed the
    occasion with a day of fasting and prayers.
    British warships blocked Boston Harbor, and
    troops poured into the city.

  • On page 44 in the spring of 1775 the Continental
    Congress met once more in Philadelphia. First
    order of business was the creation of an army to
    fight for the American cause. Also, John Hancock
    who avoided getting captured in Lexington,
    served as a president of the Continental
    Congress.

  • On page 45, it talks about on July 2, General
    Washington took charge of the American forces in
    the Cambridge across the Charles river in Boston.
    He found 14,000 men who mostly knew nothing about
    discipline.

  • On page 75 in September 1776 Washington's men
    withdrew to the northern end of Manhattan and
    beat the British in a series of skirmishes. And
    in October General George Washington and General
    William Howe clashed again at White Plains, New
    York, Washington was forced to retreat.

  • On page 83 at Saratoga. Burgoyne's forces found
    themselves surrounded by 17,00 American soldiers.
    Finally on October 17, Gates and Burgoyne signed
    a truce, and the British lay down their arms.

    November 1777, when Paris learned of Burgoynes
    defeat at Saratoga. The whole northern branch of
    the British army had been captured. Seven
    Generals, 300 Officers, and more than 5,00 men.
