Title: How to Run This Slide Show
1How to Run This Slide Show
- The usual PowerPoint presentation is a very
linear affair, you just move from one slide to
the next. If you try that with this one, you
will get totally messed up as it uses hyperlinks
to arrange the order of the slides. - So, use the mouse to click on the forward and
back arrows at the top of the slide to move to
the next or previous slide. - Click on the underlined hyperlinks in the slides
to see more detail - To get to the first slide in the show from here
you can either click on the Forward arrow at the
top right of this slide or you can click on this
hyperlink - Problems? Hyperlink structure explanation
2PROBLEMS?
- The presentation was generated using MS
PowerPoint 2000 - Ive had reports that some later versions of
PowerPoint can totally mess up the hyperlink
structure - If you seem to have this problem please let me
know. - jimsmith_at_shaw.ca

- MEMBERSHIP
15OVERALL CLUB REGION BOUNDARY
- Operations are restricted to stations located in
- BC
- WA
- OR
- ID
- ID because a number of members of Spokane DXA
live in ID
16MEMBERSHIP
- For a member's points to count for a particular
contest she must - Be a member in good standing of at least one of
the clubs at the time of the contest - Have operated from a station located within the
Overall Club Region Boundary - Doesn't have to be a member's station
17CLUB MEMBER POINTS CONTRIBUTION
- HOW DOES A CLUB MEMBER EARN PNW CUP POINTS?
- HOW ARE THEY ALLOCATED TO THE CLUBS?
- HOW ARE THEY SUBMITTED SO THEY GET TO COUNT FOR
THE PNW CUP?
18HOW A CLUB MEMBER EARNS PNW CUP POINTS
19SINGLE OP
- The points earned by a Single-Op member in a
particular contest is equal to the claimed raw
score made in the contest - No supporting documentation required - just the
claimed score - Doesn't matter who owns the station
- Doesnt matter whose call is used
20MULTI-OP
- AT A MEMBERS STATION
- AT A NON-MEMBERS STATION
21AT A MEMBER'S STATION
- Any member's station - doesn't matter which Club
- The total points made by the station are divided
equally among the members. - Non-members are ignored in this calculation
- EXAMPLE
22MEMBERS STATION POINTS EXAMPLE
- VE7UM makes 1M points. He has 10 newbie ops who
don't belong to any of the clubs, himself, 2 ops
from WWDXC and 1 from BCDXC - The members each get 1/4 of the total points or
250K to allocate as they see fit - Normally this would mean that Orca gets 1/4
250k points, WWDXC gets 2/4 500k and BCDXC gets
1/4 250k
23AT A NON-MEMBER'S STATION
- Each member receives a pro-rata share of the
points made by the station based on the total
number of operators, including non-members - EXAMPLE
24NON-MEMBERS STATION POINTS EXAMPLE
- VE7XYZ (a non-member) makes 4M points
- There are 8 ops
- 1 belongs to BCDXC and 2 to Orca. The rest are
non-members - Each member gets 1/8 500k points to allocate as
they see fit - Normally this would mean that BCDXC would get
500K and Orca would get 1M
25HOW THE POINTS ARE ALLOCATED TO THE CLUBS
- A member may allocate his share of the points
accumulated at a station to any or all of the
clubs in any proportion that he chooses
26HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR POINTS
- E-mail raw score to VE7FO
- jimsmith_at_shaw.ca
- Don't forget to say how your points are to be
allocated - OR
- Post to 3830
- http//www.hornucopia.com/3830score/
- Your points will be allocated to whichever club
you name in your 3830 post
27WHAT IS 3830?
- Back in the day at the end of a contest a number
of folks would gather at 3830 kHz to announce
their raw scores and swap stories about the
contest - Raw scores and stories can now be found at
http//lists.contesting.com/_3830/
28HOW DO WE KNOW HOW WERE DOING?
- Once the deadline for a particular contest has
passed, the PNW Cup Coordinators at each club
post all their member's scores to a common
spreadsheet - Each club posts the spreadsheet on their website
- Here's what it looks like (online version)
29THE END
- Further details on the PNW Cup Competition will
be announced on the Orca web site as they become
available - Thank you for your attention
