Classroom Expectations
  • Be respectful of others
  • Stay in your seat
  • Raise your hand
  • Come prepared
  • Treat the classroom materials with care

Classroom Consequences
  • -First card is a warning (yellow)
  • -Second card student will miss a recess
    (blue)
  • -Third card student will serve detention during
    lunch time and parents are notified (red)

Rewards
  • Class can earn marbles for good behavior.
  • Individuals earn tickets that are good for
    auction purchases.

Organization
  • -All students must have a three ringed binder
    with five dividers
  • -Students are provided a homework planner for
    their assignments
  • -Long term assignments such as book reports will
    be written on front board and in homework planner

Homework
  • Approximately 30 minutes of homework will be
    assigned Monday-Thursday.
  • Homework will be due the following day, unless
    told otherwise.
  • Students will be in charge of recording their
    homework in their homework planners. (IN PEN)
  • All homework planners must be signed by a parent
    every night.

What Should My Student Bring To Class???
  • Pencils
  • Pens (red and black)
  • Colored Pencils
  • Ruler
  • Binder (Organized with tabs for English, Math,
    Science, Social Studies and Writing.)
  • Glue Sticks

Math
  • Students will be studying addition,
    subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions,
    decimals, geometry and probability.
  • Once a month students are given a timed test on
    basic math facts.
  • Students should practice math facts daily.
  • Math tests are given at the end of each chapter
    approximately once every two weeks.
  • All graded tests need to be signed by a parent.

Science
  • Themes to be covered this year include
    measurement, rocks and minerals, and electricity.
  • Science kits will be used for hands on activities
    and experiments.

Language Arts
  • As a class, students will read one story per
    week.
  • All spelling and reading assignments will
    correspond to their weekly story.
  • A spelling pretest is given every Monday, and a
    final test is given every Friday.
  • A reading comprehension test is given every
    Friday.
  • Students will learn to write narratives,
    summaries, and responses to literature.

Social Studies
  • In fourth grade we study California History.
  • Tests are given at the end of each chapter.
  • All students will attending Lazy W Camp for an
    overnight field trip.
  • At the end of the year students will participate
    in Walk Through California, an interactive
    educational play.
  • Students will construct a 3D map of California.

PE
  • Our Physical Education Teacher, Sherry Bullock,
    will be taking students out two times every week,
    on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Kids need to wear appropriate PE clothes on those
    days.

Computer
  • Students will attend computer once every week for
    60 minutes.
  • Students learn how to type, as well as other
    basic computer skills.

Library

The class attends library once a week for 45
minutes.

  • January 14-15, 2009
  • Located in the Cleveland National Forest
  • With a stop-over at Mission San Juan Capistrano
  • Cost 142 per student
  • Parent chaperones will attend (limited spaces)
  • Chaperone cost is 96
  • Fourth grade will have a carwash fundraiser

  • I am thrilled to be here at Anderson teaching 6th
    grade. I am looking forward to getting to know
    each and every one of you and your children. We
    are going to have an exciting year, which will
    prepare your child for their Middle School
