• What makes someone a good leader or a bad leader
  of a country?
• (leader person in charge in a country)

• Oftentimes things happen during a leaders term
  that are beyond their control.
• Other times a person, such as the President, can
  be very active in determining what happens to a
  country.
• Either way, the leader almost always gets the
  blame or praise.
• Democracy is a process by which the people are
  free to choose the man who will get the blame.

• Doesnt make laws or change taxes Congress does
• Writes but cant approve treaties
• Commands military but cant declare war or pay
  the troops
• Is the main US spokesman abroad
• Can appoint people to positions but must be
  approved by Congress

• Basically held responsible by public for all
  actions of government

• Ruled the USSR from 1922-53
• Responsible for modernizing much of Russia
  through forceful industrialization
• Set up system of communist equality where people
  taken care of by government
• Lead USSR to victory over Germany in WWII
• Responsible for maybe as many as 100,000,000
  deaths

• President 1969-74 winning one of largest
  landslide election victories ever.
• Helped move forward Civil Rights reforms
• First president to visit China and eased tensions
  with USSR
• Ended the Vietnam War
• Was president during Moon Landing
• Only president to ever resign after his agents
  broke into Democratic Headquarters and then he
  covered it up

• Helped Iraq take control of own oil supply from
  foreign companies
• Waged unsuccessful wars against Iran and Kuwait
  costing over 1 million lives
• Brutally put down revolts and sectional fighting

• Helped modernize Iraq
