2Christ s Life Assures
- Eternal Life is living eternally.
- Anyone outside of Christ is dead
- Ephesians 21-3
- John 1125
- Romans 62, 11
- 1 Timothy 56
3- Though a person may be having a so-called great
time and really living it up, in actuality he is
dead. He does not know what real living is all
about.
4- A man on his deathbed asked for one final
request. He asked that he be buried behind the
wheel of a Cadillac with the air conditioning on
and the engine running. The man died and, as
requested, a huge hole large enough for a car to
be buried in was scooped out. The man was
dressed in a fine suit, top had and white gloves
and was placed behind the wheel of the car. The
air conditioning was running and he had a big
cigar in his mouth. As a crane lowered the car
into the hole, two of the deceased mans friends,
watching the burial remarked to each other, man,
thats really living!
5When does eternal life begin?
- The Scriptures picture eternal life as being our
present state. - Though we can not see the Lord, we are as much in
his presence as if we were already in heaven. - Ephesians 26
- John 336 Hath is a present possession!
6While on this earth, what is the difference
between a person who has eternal life and one who
does not have eternal life?
- A person without Christ is completely dead, void
of any life within himself. - He can never truly be happy for there is pleasure
in sin only for a season - Hebrews 1125
7- A person with Christ as
- their savior has a truly
- Wonderful existence!
- He is at peace with God and is fulfilling the
goal God placed him on earth to do. - John 1010 Abundant Life!
8Suppose that a man is brought from the slums and
filth of his environment, a place where dirt,
disease and squalor abound, and is placed in a
good home with plenty of food, clean clothes, a
nice warm place to sleep and the love of those
who brought him there. Could you imagine that
person wanting to go back to the filth again? On
the other hand, a person who has never been
brought out of that terrible environment would
not realize how good it would be to live in a
perfect environment. The sinner never realizes
his plight until his is saved from it. Luke
1511-24
9Gods Word Assures!
10What does the word Assurance mean?
- It means to be certain in your mind.
- That is, to be free from doubt
- One who has assurance of salvation is sure he is
safe! - He knows that he is a member of Gods family
forever!
11Hebrews 36 Hold Fast
- If we do not hold fast do we loose our
salvation? NO - This verse does not say that we will be the sons
of God if we hold fast, but rather, it says that
the proof that we have been born again is the
fact that we are holding fast to our profession.
12What does Romans 1013 mean when it says call
upon the name of the Lord?
- Can I just say Gods name and be saved?
- This is an act of trust or dependence on the
Name of the Lord - It is that we depend upon all that the Lord is
for salvation - Calling upon the Lord is nothing more than
depending upon all He is for salvation.
13Titus 12 In hope of eternal life
- Does this mean we can just Hope we are saved?
- Hope here means Confident Expectation.
- Hebrews 611
- The full assurance
- of Hope.
- Titus 12- God
- does not lie.
- We can have
- confidence in His
- gift of eternal life.
14Does a person have to show great emotion when he
makes a profession to be saved?
15- It is a fact not a feeling that we are saved.
- Feelings are constantly changing, and if
salvation were based on how or what we feel, then
we would be saved one moment and lost the next. - It is true that we should feel a great peace as
we realize the burden of sin is no longer resting
upon us. - We should greatly feel the love of God swell up
in our hearts as we see what He has done for us.
16Lets seriously consider whether your salvation
is one of fact or feeling?
- What happened?
- What are the facts regarding how you know you are
saved?
17Gods Hands Assure!
181 Peter 15
- What does it mean to say that we are kept by the
power of God? - Our Salvation (eternal destiny) is guarded, kept
and protected by the power of God.
19Because I am sure of my salvation I can go out
and live like I want to because I am eternally
saved, right?
- If we are not saved by our works, then we cannot
by our works lose our salvation! - No matter what we do after we are saved, it is
not charged to our account because Christ paid
for all our sins - Past, Present and Future!
20- 2 Corinthians 517 Your want-to will change.
- Romans 61-13 You possess a new nature and are
walking in newness of life. - Luke 1613 No man can serve two masters.
21Dealing with Doubts
- Does a Christian ever have doubts about his
salvation? - Yes!
- Gods Word tells us we can be certain.
- We can be free from doubt.
22When a person trusts Christ as Lord and Savior,
his souls destiny is forever settled in heaven.
- Christ is the all sufficient One.
- Once I am born into a family, I am always the son
or daughter of my father. - Once I become Gods son by the new birth, my
relationship never changes.
23After we are saved, what obligations do we have
toward God and other people?
- Ecclesiastes 1213 The whole duty of man!
- What has the Lord commanded you to do?
24- Repent (Turn to Christ and be saved) Acts 1730
- Be Baptized (Acts 1048)
- Be Holy (1 Peter 115-16)
- Be filled with the Spirit (Eph 518)
- Be doers of the Word (James 122-23)
- Love not the world (1 John 215)
- Love one another (John 1517)
- Go into all the world (Matt 2819-20)
