  (French and Mexican traitors) on May 5th, 1862
• Mexican army commanded by Texas-born General
  Zaragosa
• Mexican victory kept the French from supplying
  the Confederate army
• Union forces then supplied the Mexican army with
  enough weapons to expel the French, and some
  American soldiers joined the Mexican army to help
