HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A PENGUIN?

• After learning about penguins in Mrs. Barrys
  kindergarten class, students were asked if they
  had ever seen a real penguin. 66 of the students
  have seen a penguin. 34 have not.

Mom will be back with some food very soon.
The emperor penguin is the largest penguin. It
lives in Antarctica. Only the male emperor
penguin cares for the eggs. After the eggs hatch,
the females return. The females help the male
emperor penguins feed the young chicks.

Penguin Facts

• There are 18 kinds of penguins. All penguins have
  the same basic body shape and coloring.
• All penguins live south of the equator. Most live
  in Antarctica. It is very cold there.
• Penguins spend most of their lives in the water.
  Sometimes they gather at spots on the shore.
  These places are called rookeries.
• Penguins eat fish, squid, and tiny shrimp called
  krill.
• Penguins cannot fly.
