  • On the index card provided, take a few minutes
    and think about the goals you would like to set
    for yourself this year.
  • Write two goals you would like to achieve this
    year

Classroom Rules Procedures
  • Mrs. McMeen
  • 6th Grade
  • ELA

Entering Class
  • Walk into room calmly and quietly
  • Have only Bellwork supplies on desk (Bellwork
    folder and pen or pencil)
  • Be IN assigned seat by the time late bell rings

Tardy Procedure
  • If you walk into class late WITHOUT a pass from
    another teacher you are tardy.
  • For every 3 tardies you will receive a
    consequence

Bell Work
  • When entering class, immediately look to front
    board to see what the bell work is for the day
  • Be working on bell work by the time the late bell
    rings
  • Stay silent during bell work (7th period can eat
    a snack during FOA only)

Walking the Floor.
  • At NO time should you be out of your seat for ANY
    reason unless given permission.
  • This includes but is NOT limited to sharpening
    pencils, tissues, turning in work, trash etc.
  • ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYs raise your hand to get out
    of your seat.

Pencil Sharpening
  • DO NOT get up to sharpen pencil during
    instruction.
  • Raise your pencil in the air and if your pencil
    needs to be sharpened.
  • There will be no more than ONE person at the
    pencil sharpener at a time.

Tissues
  • DO NOT interrupt instructional time to use a
    tissue simply place your hand on your nose and I
    will motion to give you permission

Trash
  • Wait until the end of the period, on the way out,
    to dispose of any trash. (temporarily place in
    the right hand of the corner of desk)
  • DO NOT leave any trash in the classroom.
  • Make sure that your area is clean before you
    leave the classroom.

Procedures for Class work
  • Each class period will turn their work in to
    their assigned bin at the end of class. (located
    in the rear of the classroom
  • DO NOT hand me any work! (Except when it is
    absent or late work. You should write if it is
    absent or late on the paper)

Homework
  • A weekly assignment will be given on Monday of
    each week and due by Thursday.
  • If any work is not completed in class, then it
    will be completed for homework.
  • Homework will be turned into your class bin. DO
    NOT hand me any homework! (AGAINexcept when
    absent/late)

FOA Day 3WOW Wednesday
  • Write a complete paragraph about what you
    experienced this summer. Did you go on a
    vacation, spend the night with friends, or
    discover something new about your family. Make
    sure the paragraph has a topic sentence, three
    supporting details, and a concluding sentence.

Late Assignments
  • Late assignments will be accepted.
  • You WILL be penalized for any late assignments by
    a reduction of 10 points every day that it is
    late.
  • You are to turn in late assignments to me and
    label it late work.

Make-up Work.
  • If you are absent it is your responsibility to
    look in the look on the assignment chart, ask a
    friend, look on the webpage, or ask me during FOA
    or after class.
  • When turning in make up work, do NOT turn it in
    to the regular class work bin. Hand it directly
    to me and label it absent work
  • You will not be penalized for make up work.
  • You have 5 days to make up any late work.

VOICE LEVELS
  • LEVEL 0no talking
  • LEVEL 1whisper
  • LEVEL 2 1-2 can hear
  • LEVEL 3class can hear
  • LEVEL 4outside voice

Getting into Groups
  • Group work and partner work will be a part of
    this class.
  • Remember to always be NICE or NEUTRAL.

Going to Lunch
  • After 3rd period, you will walk to the cafeteria
    and sit at your assigned table. While walking to
    the cafeteria make sure you are quiet and are not
    wasting your lunch time.
  • Once in the lunch room, you will sit at our
    assigned lunch table on the left side and wait
    until you have been given permission to go
    through the line.
  • After you get your lunch, you will return to our
    assigned table. No getting up unless you have
    permission.
  • When lunch is over, you will line up by the at
    the table and I will come to pick you up. We will
    walk back in a straight and quiet line.
  • No backpacks or books in the cafeteria, only
    lunch boxes.

Food, Drinks, Gum
  • Food 7th period ONLY, can have a small snack in
    class. Hot chips, dry Kool-aid, chocolate/candy,
    and any other messy snacks will not be permitted.
  • Gum is not allowed in my room
  • Candy is only allowed if I pass it out.
  • Water in a closeable container is the only drink
    allowed. No powdered drinks should be in your
    water.
  • All trash containers must be disposed of before
    exiting the room.

Restroom
  • It is your responsibility to use the restroom
    during your breaks.
  • You may not go during class
  • In case of an EMERGENCY ONLY, you will only be
    allowed to use the restroom. TWO EMERGENCY PASSES
    PER NINE WEEK PERIOD
  • DO NOT interrupt instructional time to ask to go
    the restroom.

Locker
  • You may not go during class, you should have
    everything you need before class.
  • Top lockers go after 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th
    period
  • Bottom lockers go after 2nd, 4th, and 6th period

Computers
  • You cannot use a computer without my permission.
  • You will not be permitted to use a computer until
    you have the white paper signed by a parent.
  • Only educational websites are allowed
  • You will be assigned a day during FOA in the next
    few weeks.

Speaking
  • Do not speak during instructional time unless you
    have raised your hand and been called upon.
  • I will not listen to a question, comment, answer,
    etc. unless you have raised your hand.
  • You may not ask me to use the restroom, go to
    your locker, or go to another teachers classroom
    in the middle of instructional time.

Bullying
  • Bullying WILL NOT be tolerated.
  • Bullying recognized in class by me will result in
    an automatic referral to the dean or
    administration.

Dress Code
  • The only backpacks allowed are those with strings
  • No chains or beaded necklaces
  • Girls- you can only carry SMALL purses
  • Wear nothing that has inappropriate language or
    pictures
  • Students may not wear scarves or anything on
    their heads
  • If you arent sure about somethingDONT WEAR IT
  • No flip-flops

Exiting Class
  • Exit class in an orderly fashion.
  • All seats must be pushed in and trash off of the
    floor before you leave class.
  • THE BELL DOES NOT DISMISS YOU, I DO. STAY IN
    YOUR SEAT UNTIL YOU ARE TOLD YOU CAN LEAVE.

  • 1.) Have respect for yourself and others .
  • 2.) Have respect for the property of others.
  • 3.)Be on time and prepared for class.
  • 4.) Follow classroom procedures at ALL times.
  • 5.) Treat others how you would want to be
    treated!

Consequences
  • 1.) Warning
  • 2.) Detention and parent contact
  • 3.) Mini School Isolation and parent conference
  • 4.) Referral to the Dean and parent contact
  • Each consequence that you earn will result in a
    call home.

Eighth Period
  • From 255 pm until you are dismissed, you will
    remain absolutely QUIET.
  • You will clean the classroom from 255 until you
    are dismissed.
  • Pay close attention to the dismissals.
  • Students will have specific jobs at the end of
    the day such as sweeping, taking down buses,
    desks, trash, exc.
  • Failure to stay silent and follow directions will
    be met by SERIOUS consequences.

  • You will follow a mash schedule for testing and
    remediation
  • Monday-Math
  • Tuesday- Language Arts
  • Wednesday- Science
  • Thursday- Social Studies
  • Friday- Reading
