2BRAC Changes at Fort Bragg and Pope AFB
- Ft. Bragg is already the largest Army post in the
country - Growing to more than 80,000 soldiers and
employees. - Includes BRAC actions, Army Transformation, and
Grow the Army initiatives. - U.S. Army Forces Command and Army Reserve Command
Headquarters transfer from Atlanta in 2011. - Pope AFB transfers to the Army in 2011.
- 440th Reserve Airlift Wing has relocated from
Milwaukee to Pope AFB.

- Population growth projecting 40,000 additional
people - Creates a shortage of schools, classrooms, and
teachers - Impact on housing, roads, airports, workforce,
infrastructure, public safety, medical and

- School Construction Shortfall
- 259 million requirement for 6,674 mission
related students - Closing Bragg Blvd and widening Murchison Road
- 85 million project is a security issue for
FORSCOM/Ft. Bragg - Extension of I-295 to All American Freeway
- 63.7 million to begin work on 270 million
project

- On Post over 2.2 billion in military
construction during the next 5 years. - 5 billion - 7 billion in the AADC

meeting space. - Office and warehouse space needed for
contractors. - Requires a skilled talent pool for defense

organize and equip the entire U.S. Army - Manage more than 30 billion of DOD budget

- Potential to attract new defense related industry
and expand existing businesses

- Hensel Phelps awarded a 288.5 million design to
build contract for a 500,000 sq ft facility for
FORSCOM/USARC headquarters - 220,000 sq ft additional space for IT and related
functions - Ground breaking ceremony conducted 8 Dec 08

and operating costs is approximately 7600 per

five years for the 6,674 students related to
mission growth at Ft Bragg

- Advanced Visualization and Interactive Digital

- in the Virtual College Center at FTCC
- Focused on the creation of high skill/ high tech
jobs

- Establishing an i3D Center of Excellence at FTCC
in partnership with the BRAC RTF - State of the art capabilities education and
training - Virtual network with i3D classrooms to link K-12,
CCs and Universities with Industry Partners - Used US DOL funds to purchase i3D classrooms for
our 8 Community Colleges - Golden Leaf funding received for 11 classrooms
for pilot programs in one high school in each of
our 11 counties -
