GLOSS sites
SEAFRAME sites operated by NTC
gauge exists but operated by another agency
does not exist
Tide gauge sites designated as GLOSS sites in the
region. All SEAFRAME sites in the Southwest
Pacific are available hourly via the GTS except
for the PNG sites. The only sites operational in
PNG are the SEAFRAME at Manus Island (not GLOSS)
and the station at Rabaul (which is not a good
sea level monitoring site). Lord Howe and Norfolk
Islands had gauges but have since been
decommissioned. There is no gauge at Christmas
Island. NTC has daily access to Booby Island
which is operated by AMSA.
2
Fast Delivery sites
Non SEAFRAME
Tide gauge sites where hourly sea level
observations are compiled by the NTC and
transmitted to the University of Hawaii Sea Level
Centre monthly. Stations which are operated by
other agencies are in yellow and the data is
contributed to NTC for sending to UHSLC
3
NTC realtime sites
Non SEAFRAME
Tide gauge sites where six minute sea level
observations are downloaded by the NTC daily. All
sites in the Southwest Pacific are available
hourly via the GTS and most Australian stations
are going to be within 1-2 years. Most stations
are fully equipped SEAFRAME sites and therefore
have ancillary sensors such as barometric
pressure, windspeed and direction, air and water
temperature available hourly. SEAFRAME sites can
also be interrogated for one minute average sea
level for tsunami detection as needs arise.
4
NTC tsunami monitoring capability
Tide gauge sites where one minute sea level
observations for tsunami detection are available
in real-time. All sites in the Southwest Pacific
are available hourly via the GTS and most
Australian stations are going to be within 1-2
years. Most stations are fully equipped SEAFRAME
sites and therefore have ancillary sensors such
as barometric pressure, windspeed and direction,
air and water temperature available hourly.
