Why mess around with photos?
  • Traditional photography is taking pictures of
whats there it isnt right to add or change
    things
  • Using filters, lenses and other tricks, you can
get interesting pictures using 35mm film
  • Your photos can be used in a range of ways, not
    just as snap-shots of events
  • Special effects can make photos interesting,
    unique, dynamic and fun
  • People pay large amounts for portrait photos that
may be digitally altered to make them stand out
    (e.g. Venture)

How to get an effect whole picture
  • You can change an entire photo very easily,
simply by clicking on the effect you want
  • In some cases, you will be asked to choose a
    colour
  • Most effects ask you to choose widths, depths
    etc.
  • You can use the preview to see how things will
turn out (change the view from 100 to about 10
for any chance of seeing it!)
  • If you go wrong, simply click on Undo (although
you may have to click Done first)

Applying an effect to part of a photo
  • You can apply an effect to part of a photo by
selecting it first (Rt ClickgtShow Selections)
  • You can invert the selection so that you apply
the effect to the rest of the photo
  • The best way to work with parts of photos is to
    use layers
  • Once you have made a selection, Copy (or Cut) and
Paste it into the document this creates a layer
    (Rt ClickgtShow Layers for demonstration)
  • If you use Copy rather than Cut, it pastes in the
    same location
  • SAVE the document (rather than exporting it) as a
.PDD file until you have finished working on it

11
Heres an example
12
Combining several photos
  • You can work with several photos at a time
  • You can cut something (or someone) out of one
photo and put it into another
  • If you want to apply an effect to all of the
layers of a photo, you can merge the layers (by
clicking on the arrow in the top right-hand
    corner of the layers box)
